Former temp agency site manager gets prison in theft case

February 11, 2019

A former on-site manager for a temporary staffing agency was sentenced on Friday to three years in prison for stealing $190,000 from the unnamed agency, according to an announcement by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.

Xiomara Jovel, of Roselle, NJ, pleaded guilty on Dec. 19 to second-degree theft by deception, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Jovel fabricated wages for six individuals who no longer worked at the site, and diverted the funds to cash cards that she used to withdraw the funds. The office reported $190,000 was taken between 2014 and 2016.

In addition to prison, Jovel must also pay full restitution to the former employer.
