Five gig economy firms will compete in a contest modeled after the television show “Shark Tank” at Staffing Industry Analysts’ Collaboration in the Gig Economy conference next month in Dallas.

The finalist companies that will compete during this year’s event are:

• Workonomix — A platform that facilitates work identities and simplifies work engagement process using blockchain.
• Crowdstaffing — A curated marketplace where enterprises and MSPs tap into a crowd of certified recruiters to hire local talent.
• Fulcrum — An online staffing marketplace aggregator for enterprise programs.
• AllyO — An artificial intelligence-powered recruiter using natural language processing and machine learning to automate the recruiting workflow.
• The Mom Project — A digital marketplace that launched a program connecting local corporations with diverse and experienced women returning to work.

“There were dozens of nominations, which I think highlights the level of activity and innovation across the ecosystem,” said David Francis, SIA research manager and the moderator of the panel. “The five finalists that will pitch represent a unique and diverse cross-section of technology and business models.”

Judging the event are Jody Greenstone Miller, co-founder and CEO of Business Talent and former Venture Partner at Maveron LLC; John Nurthen, executive director, global research, at Staffing Industry Analysts; Marcus Sawyerr, CEO of YOSS USA; and Jai Shekhawat, founder and former CEO of SAP Fieldglass.

“Our goal was to highlight innovations around the world of work and give folks a way to see behind the scenes at how investors and strategic partners analyze potentially disruptive and transformative technologies,” Francis said. “I’m looking forward to seeing which firm is ultimately crowned the winner in what I think will be a very fun, fast and informative session.”

The event takes place at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Collaboration in the Gig Economy conference in Dallas.
