Employers trim hiring plans for grads

April 11, 2016

US employers still plan to hire 5.2% more college grads from the class of 2016 than last year’s class, according to a new spring survey by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. However, hiring plans are down from a similar survey in the fall when employers planned to hire 11% more 2016 grads.

More than a third of employers said they planned to trim hiring plans, according to the spring survey. Just 13.2% planned to hire fewer grads in the fall survey.

The employers surveyed were members of NACE. The survey is conducted in two parts: fall and spring. This release is based on data collected from Feb. 10 through March 22, 2016. A total of 144 NACE-member organizations participated.
