EmployBridge hires new exec with mission: Improve temps’ lives

September 10, 2018

EmployBridge hired an executive specifically tasked with improving the work and personal lives of its 400,000 external temporary workers. It announced today that Cathi Canfield will take on the newly created role of VP of associate experience and advancement.

The move at Atlanta-based EmployBridge — which ranks as the largest industrial staffing firm in the US based on 2017 revenue — comes amid a low US unemployment rate, which was 3.9% in August.

“With record-low unemployment, securing talent in manufacturing, logistics, transportation and other supply-chain areas has become imperative for our customer base, making the readiness and availability of our workforce a top priority for EmployBridge,” Chief Marketing Officer Joanie Courtney said.

Bringing Canfield aboard is part of an effort to remove obstacles preventing stable employment relationships between hourly workers and supply chain employers, according to the company. Efforts also include investing in programs that solve challenges for hourly workers such as skill development, vocational training, apprenticeships, transportation, housing and language barriers.

Canfield’s team will expand several programs, including EmployBridge’s Better WorkLife Academy aimed at upskilling/reskilling workers through free online training in partnership with Penn Foster.
