Cross Country revenue up 4% on pro forma basis

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. (NASD: CCRN), the third-largest US healthcare staffing firm, reported revenue rose 57.0% in the second quarter to $192.6 million, including the acquisition of Medical Staffing Network on June 30, 2014. Revenue rose 4% on a pro forma basis, which treats acquired firms as if the company owned them in both reported quarters.

Cross Country posted net income of almost $2.6 million, compared to a loss of almost $3.2 million in the second quarter of last year. The company also posted $1.0 million in restructuring costs in the second quarter.

Nurse and allied staffing revenue jumped 83.4%  in the second quarter, boosted by the company’s acquisition of Medical Staffing Network; revenue rose 6% on a pro forma basis. Physician staffing revenue edged down.

Cross Country forecast third-quarter revenue of $192 million to $197 million, a year-over-year increase of 2% to 4%.

Shares in Cross Country rose 2.28% in early afternoon trading today to $12.85. The company had a market cap of $413.24 million, according to Yahoo!
