Cross Country Healthcare acquires RPO business

December 02, 2016

Cross Country Healthcare Inc. (NASD: CCRN) acquired US Resources Healthcare LLC, a recruitment process outsourcing business.

The transaction closed Dec. 1; terms were not disclosed.

“In essence, we bought infrastructure and expertise to help us deliver better services and handle more volume,” according to Cross Country. “We had built up an internal team but it was taking too long to be really productive and we wanted to accelerate the process. They had underutilized capacity, we had demand — it was a win-win for both of us.”

The business will join Cross Country Healthcare’s Workforce Solutions organization. US Resources Healthcare founder Mark Dixon will become senior VP of RPO services, reporting to Robert Murphy, division president of Workforce Solutions. However, Dixon’s title is provisional and could change in the new year.

Based in Nashville, Tenn., US Resources Healthcare counts about 20 internal employees and has more than 15 years of experience delivering healthcare RPO services. After US Resources Healthcare ramps up revenue, the business should eventually generate EBITDA of more than 15%, according to Cross Country.

“US Resources Healthcare has been providing RPO services to the healthcare community since 2000 and brings a wealth of experience to our workforce solutions team,” Cross Country President and CEO William Grubbs said. “By bringing the US Resources Healthcare team into our suite of services, we expect to strengthen and expand both current and new relationships with our healthcare customers by offering an array of innovative solutions.”

Cross Country, based in Boca Raton, Fla., ranks as the third-largest healthcare staffing firm in the US.
