Canadian staffing index up 9% year over year

December 20, 2016

The Canadian staffing index rose 5% in November from October and also jumped 9% when compared with November of last year. The index, which measures staffing activity in Canada, rose to a reading of 116 from a reading of 110 in October. The number of working days in October this year rose 5% when compared to last year.

“November was another encouraging month as the index was up 9% year over year, which suggests growth in volume even after adjusting for the number of working days,” said Timothy Landhuis, research manager at Staffing Industry Analysts. “The positive index reading in November represents another consecutive month of year-over-year growth in billed hours and further suggests that the Canadian staffing industry is finally gaining some traction.”

Staffing Industry Analysts produces the index on behalf of the Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services.
