Canada adds 59,200 jobs in November, ADP report finds

December 21, 2017

Canada’s employment rose by 59,200 jobs in November from October, according to the ADP Canada national employment report.

“Despite a slight dip in October, Canada saw significant job growth in November,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, VP and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. “These job gains are a continuation of the strength we’ve seen in the labor market for the past six months. There were broad-based increases across most industries including education and healthcare, construction and finance.”

In the goods-producing sector, jobs increased construction by 9,300 and in manufacturing by 2,900. However, jobs in natural resources and mining edged down by 600.

Education and healthcare led gains in the service-providing sector, with an increase of 17,600 jobs; “other services” and finance/real estate followed with gains of 9,700 and 8,300, respectively.

The ADP Research Institute produces the report in close collaboration with Moody’s Analytics Inc. Derived from actual ADP payroll data, the report measures the change in total nonfarm payroll employment each month on a seasonally adjusted basis.
