Barrett Group Wants New Board

December 27, 2011

A group of shareholders at Barrett Business Services Inc. (NASD: BBSI), which includes the widow of the company’s former CEO, announced plans to nominate a new slate of directors to replace the current board and asked for a special meeting of shareholders on Feb. 21, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Based in Vancouver, Wash., Barrett provides temporary staffing and professional employer organization services.

“Barrett’s branch managers are the lifeblood of the company, which my late husband built from the ground up,” Kimberly Jacobsen Sherertz said in a filing with the SEC. “The board slate, which the shareholder group proposes, will be composed of proven business leaders with expertise in sales, marketing, technology and organic growth. This new board will work to provide branch managers with additional products, technology, and tools that add value for their client base.”

William Sherertz, former president and CEO of Barrett, died in January 2011.
