BG Staffing names new CEO, but former top exec will remain chairman

September 25, 2018

BG Staffing Inc. (NYSE MKT: BGSF), promoted Beth Garvey to CEO and president, effective Oct. 1. She replaces L. Allen Baker, Jr., who will resign from those roles but remain as chairman of the board.

Baker took on the president and CEO roles at BG Staffing in April 2009. He is included on the Staffing 100 list of the most influential people in the staffing industry.

Garvey joined Plano, Texas-based BG Staffing in 2013 through its acquisition of InStaff Personnel LLC. She has held the COO role since August 2016, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company.

Prior to her appointment as COO, Garvey was divisional president of the company’s commercial — now referred to as the light industrial — segment and the finance and accounting group. Garvey started at InStaff in 1998 as director of human resources, subsequently serving as director of operations, VP of operations, senior VP of operations, COO and ultimately CEO prior to BG Staffing’s acquisition.

“I’m delighted that Beth has accepted the role of CEO of BG Staffing,” Baker said. “Her strategic thinking and ability to drive teams, along with the strong support of Dan Hollenbach, CFO, will enable us to stay on the growth path we have experienced over the past several years.”

BG Staffing provides staffing in three segments: professional, commercial and multifamily (front-office and maintenance personnel to the multi-family housing industry). The firm reported second-quarter revenue rose 3.2% year over year to $70.9 million.
