Average US weekly wage rises 4% in Q4, county in Silicon Valley posts highest wage

The US average weekly wage rose to $1,082 in the fourth quarter of 2015, up 4.4% when compared with the same quarter the prior year, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

California’s Santa Clara County, home to Silicon Valley, posted the highest average weekly wage among all large US county areas in the fourth quarter at $2,335; Santa Clara also garnered the highest year-over-year increase at $198.

Wyandotte County in Kansas posted the largest year-over-year percentage increase in average weekly wage at 10.4%

The 10 US counties with the highest year-over-year percent increases in average weekly wage in the fourth quarter included:

  • Wyandotte, Kan., up 10.4%
  • Sonoma, Calif., up 10.0%
  • Lake, Ill., up 9.8%
  • Passaic, N.J., up 9.4%
  • Santa Clara, Calif., up 9.3%
  • Anoka, Minn., up 9.3%
  • Clay, Mo., up 9.2%
  • Collier, Fla., up 9.1%
  • Catawba, N.C., up 8.9%
  • Bell, Texas, up 8.9%

The 10 US counties in terms of highest average weekly wage in the fourth quarter included:

  1. Santa Clara, Calif., $2,335
  2. New York, N.Y., $2,235
  3. San Mateo, Calif., $2,095
  4. San Francisco, Calif., $1,961
  5. Suffolk, Mass., $1,943
  6. Washington, D.C., $1,756
  7. Fairfield, Conn., $1,735
  8. Arlington, Va., $1,686
  9. Fairfax, Va., $1,618
  10. Morris, N.J., $1,601
