Average US weekly wage rises 3% in Q3

The US average weekly wage rose 2.6% in the third quarter of last year to $974 when compared with the same quarter in 2014, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

Santa Clara County in California, home to Silicon Valley, posted the highest average weekly wage of any county in the US at $2,090 in the third quarter.

Rockland County in New York posted the highest year-over-year increase in average weekly wage, rising 24.9%.

The 10 US counties with the highest year-over-year percent increases in average weekly wage in the third quarter included:

  1. Rockland, NY, up 24.9%
  2. Lake, Ill., up 11.7%
  3. Onondaga, NY, up 6.5
  4. Washington, Ore., up 6.4%
  5. Marin, Calif., up 6.1
  6. Santa Cruz, Calif., up 6.1%
  7. Genesee, Mich., up 5.6%
  8. Davidson, Tenn., up 5.5%
  9. Placer, Calif., up 5.4%
  10. Williamson, Tenn., up 5.2%

The 10 US counties in terms of highest average weekly wage in the third quarter included:

  2. San Mateo, Calif., $1,894
  3. New York, NY, $1,829
  4. San Francisco, Calif. $1,712
  5. Washington, DC, $1,667
  6. Arlington, Va., $1,587
  7. Suffolk, Mass., $1,559
  8. King, Wash., $1,463
  9. Fairfax, Va., $1,462
  10. Somerset, NJ, $1,447
