73% of internal workers at staffing firms are still working remotely

February 24, 2023

Remote work remains prevalent in the staffing industry. New research by Staffing Industry Analysts found that nearly three-quarters of internal staff at staffing firms, 73%, were working remotely at least part time in 2022. That compares to 76% in 2021 and 81% in 2020.

“The option for internal staff to work remotely looks like it’s here to stay,” said Jon Osborne, VP strategic research at SIA and the author of this report. “The majority of internal staff say remote work is a ‘huge benefit,’ and many would even consider a pay cut to work entirely remotely.”

The current report found that nearly half of internal staffing employees, 47%, said they were working remotely full-time 2022 and 26% said they were working remotely part time, according to the report. The remaining 27% said they were not working remotely with 17% saying they did so because of their employer’s preference. Only 10% of staffing firm internal employees worked in the office because of their own volition.

The report, “North America Internal Staff Survey 2023: Remove work prevalence, preferences and how to support it,” is available to corporate members of Staffing Industry Analysts.

The report’s survey received responses from 23,238 internal workers at 291 staffing firms and was conducted in late 2022.
