Chelsea Emery is executive editor at Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), where she directs editorial strategy for SIA’s award-winning content. This includes breaking news and analysis, newsletters, Staffing Industry Review print magazine, and the organization’s flagship recognition lists.

Emery joined SIA after decades covering business and financial news for organizations including Bloomberg News, Reuters and the BBC. She was the former editor-in-chief of Financial Planning magazine. Emery also guided, edited and placed C-suite executive thought leadership articles as editor-in-chief of The Expert Press.

During her tenure at Financial Planning, the magazine and online publication won multiple Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) awards, Jessie H. Neal Awards and American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) recognitions. In 2018, Emery was recognized on the Folio 100 list of influential magazine editors. She has also been a judge for some of journalism’s most prestigious recognitions, including the Jessie H. Neal Awards and SABEW’s Best in Business Awards.

Emery has a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Carleton College, where she studied English. She has been living in New Jersey for 19 years. But if you ask her where she’s from, she’ll always say, “Oregon.”
