Market Description

The Netherlands is a well-established and well-developed staffing market. Employment law is considered employee-friendly, with a strong tradition of collective bargaining between employers’ associations and trade unions, including collective bargaining agreements relating to temporary agency workers. Dutch staffing legislation is based on the ‘flexicurity’ model, which aims to strike the right balance between flexibility for employers and security for employees. In addition to temporary agency employees, a staffing firm may second or loan staff to a client; such secondment is a significant market feature. The Randstad region (after which the staffing company gets its name) includes the densely-populated conurbations of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht.
