Japanese staffing firm TwoStone & Son (7352: TYO), previously known as Branding Engineer, announced it has acquired Carecon, a provider of systems development, IT engineering training and freelance services based in Japan.

The total price of the acquisition is JPY 630 million (USD 4.38 million).

Carecon was established in 2018.

If the acquisition is completed as planned, Carecon will become a consolidated subsidiary of the company from the first quarter of the fiscal year ending August 2025.

TwoStone said one of its core businesses is a matching service between freelance engineers and companies called Midworks. The company said that, as the need for IT engineers becomes more diverse and the level of work required becomes more advanced, it recognises the need to build an IT engineer team that can secure and handle advanced tasks.

Carecon operates a similar business to Midworks, which matches IT engineers with companies and also provides human resource training.

TwoStone said it expects to achieve cross-selling by combining its customer base and the IT engineering databases of both Carecon and TwoStone.

“We believe that both companies can achieve further growth,” the company stated. “In particular, we will continue to expand our market share in the junior engineer recruitment industry.”

“We expect this acquisition will allow us to expand our presence and expand our business,” the company added.
