The Planet Group taps Simmerly as CEO

The Planet Group, a Chicago-based provider of staffing and consulting, appointed Tim Simmerly as CEO effective immediately. Simmerly has been with the company since its inception 15 years ago.
“I am both honored and excited to step into the CEO role at this pivotal moment for Planet,” he said in a press release. “Our journey over the past 15 years has been remarkable, and I am committed to building on our legacy of excellence. Together with our talented team, I look forward to driving innovation and delivering outstanding results for our clients worldwide.”
Simmerly has held multiple leadership positions at the firm and was appointed president in August 2021.
He takes over from Mike Stomberg.

On Aug. 28, The Planet Group announced that it was selling its PFES consulting business to Qualus. PFES serves the power and utility industries and was launched by The Planet Group in 2012. Completion of the sales is subject to customary closing conditions, including required regulatory clearance and PFES’ organizational separation from The Planet Group.
