Suresh Muthuswami, chair of TCS North America, resigned earlier this month, according to media reports.

Muthuswami was appointed chair of TCS’s business for the US and Canada in March 2022, The Economic Times reported. He resigned from the Mumbai, India-based IT services giant effective Aug. 9 after giving notice three months ago.

“We can confirm that Suresh Muthuswami has decided to leave TCS after a 26-year career in the company,” TCS said in a statement. “We wish him all the best.”

TCS promoted Muthuswami as chairman of the North American region in April 2022 after his predecessor, TCS veteran Surya Kant, retired.

Amit Bajaj, president of the North American region since August 2020, will take over Muthuswami’s previous roles.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my colleagues all over the world who have supported me throughout this journey,” Muthuswami stated in a LinkedIn post. “Your collaboration, creativity and commitment have inspired me daily. Over the past two and a half decades, I’ve had the privilege of watching TCS grow and evolve, and I’m proud of the contributions TCSers have made to its success. The memories, achievements and lessons learned will stay with me always.”

Revenue at TCS rose across geographies in its fiscal first quarter ended June 30, with the exception of North America, where it fell 1.1% year over year in constant currency. North America represents the company’s largest market and accounted for 49.5% of TCS’ revenue in the quarter.
