Recruitment firm TalentoHC acquired The PeterSan Group/PeterSan Legal Staffing, a New York-based company that focuses on legal executive searches for corporations and law firms as well as temporary legal placements.

The deal will combine PeterSan’s expertise in legal search with TalentoHC’s own expertise in executive placement, staff augmentation, human capital consulting and other services. The combined firm can provide clients with legal executives such as general counsels as well as other executives such as chief information officers and chief marketing officers, TalentoHC CEO and President Juan Gaitan said.

“There’s a ton of additional opportunities for clients,” Gaitan said.

The acquisition is also part of TalentoHC’s growth strategy. It has made other acquisitions, including Los Angeles-based executive search firm De Forest Search in 2022. And Gaitan said he is betting on an economic upturn in the next 24 months.

“I think the thing I’m most excited about is putting two operation models together and seeing the teams flourish,” he said.

PeterSan has 24 internal staff. For its part, TalentoHC has nearly 200 internal professionals. It’s based in Coral Gables, Florida, and has offices in Seattle; Los Angeles; New York; Miami; London; Newcastle, England, and Medellin, Colombia.

“Partnering with TalentoHC opens an exciting new chapter, where we can expand our footprint beyond the legal space while offering a compelling value proposition, corporate infrastructure and investment capability to deliver even greater value to our customers and associates,” PeterSan Managing Partners Peter Goldfeder, Peter Gosule and Sandrea Friedman said in a joint statement.

Terms of the transaction were not announced. The deal was first reported by M&A advisory firm Hunt Scanlon Ventures.

“This acquisition creates a significant new growth lane for TalentoHC,” Scott A. Scanlon, co-CEO and founding partner of Hunt Scanlon Ventures, said in a press release. “This merger brings together The PeterSan Group’s decades-long expertise in legal recruitment with TalentoHC’s broad human capital solutions.”

Hunt Scanlon Managing Director Drew Seaman, who facilitated the transaction, noted that legal recruiting is ready for consolidation and further M&A activity.

“Private equity is demonstrating heightened interest in the space as PE investors seek to establish platform acquisitions to anchor consolidation strategies cross-industry,” Seaman said.
