Talent acquisition trends for 2025: Korn Ferry

Main article
Talent acquisition trends appearing to take shape for 2025 include shifting sentiments around AI and challenges finding workers willing to go to the office, according to Korn Ferry (NYSE: KFY).
The executive search firm released data based on a survey of more than 400 talent professionals worldwide.
“As we look to 2025, organizations are challenged with striking a balance between competing factions: technology and human connection, efficiency and personalization, flexibility and structure,” Jeanne MacDonald, CEO of recruitment process outsourcing at Korn Ferry, said in a press release.
“Leaders who can blend data-driven insights with personalized strategies will position themselves to not only attract and retain top talent but also achieve lasting business impact by mitigating risk with intentional action,” MacDonald said.
Key trends identified included:
- The reality of AI. Sentiments around AI’s return on investment are shifting. Korn Ferry’s survey found 67% of talent professionals feel AI will have a major role in talent strategies in 2025, but concerns remain. The poll found 40% are concerned about AI compromising the human side of recruiting, and 25% worry about the risk of algorithmic bias.
- Hybrid work. More than three fourths of respondents, 76%, reported their companies have adopted hybrid work structures. However, 64% said the biggest challenge facing the new world of work is finding candidates willing to work in the office.
- Shift to skills-based hiring remains elusive. While 39% of talent leaders recognize the value of skills-based hiring, only 17% plan to switch to it in 2025.
- Employer value proposition. Nealy half of talent professionals, 45%, say culture and employer value proposition are crucial when it comes to recruiting, though companies must deliver on that promise. “Say what you mean, mean what you say,” is what employees expect as the new year approaches.
Korn Ferry’s survey included talent professionals from entry level to CEO across North America; Latin America; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and the Asia Pacific. It also includes insights from 40 of Korn Ferry’s consultants.
