Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate improves to 3.39%

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 3.39% in December 2024 from 3.40% in December 2023, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).

When compared to the prior month, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined by 0.02%.

On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate declined by 0.04% to 3.32% in December. When compared with that of the previous year, the unemployment rate declined by 0.01% in December.

At the same time, total employment increased over the month by 6,000 (0.05%) in December to 11,612,000; moreover, it also increased by 29,000 (0.25%) when compared with that of the previous year.

When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture decreased by 8,000 (-1.53%); by contrast, the industry sector and the services sector increased by 6,000 (0.16%) and 30,000(0.43%) in December, respectively.

At the same time, the labour force participation rate rose over the month by 0.01% to 59.30% in December; furthermore, it also rose by 0.04% from that of the previous year.
