Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate improves to 3.34% in June

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 3.34% in June 2024 from 3.45% in June 2023, according to the latest manpower survey results by the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).

When compared to the previous month, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined by 0.01% to 3.34%.

On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, when compared with that of the previous year, the unemployment rate declined by 0.10% in June.

The number of unemployed persons was 406,000 in June, an increase of 6,000 (1.61%) but a decrease of 11,000 (-2.54%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively.

Further data showed total employment increased by 8,000 (0.06%) in June to 11,588,000; moreover, it also increased by 70,000 (0.61%) when compared with that of the previous year.

When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture decreased by 15,000 (-2.92%); by contrast, the industry sector and the services sector increased by 5,000 (+0.12%) and 80,000 (+1.14%) in June, respectively

Month-on-month, employment in agriculture and the services sector increased by 1,000 (0.20%) and 8,000 (0.11%), respectively; by contrast, the industry sector decreased by 2,000 (-0.03%) in June.

Taiwan’s labour force participation rate rose by 0.05% to 59.25% in June; furthermore, it also rose by 0.08% from that of the previous year.
