Taiwan’s October seasonally adjusted jobless rate improves to 3.38%

Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 3.38% in October 2024 from 3.41% in October 2023, according to data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS).
When compared to the prior month, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate saw no change.
On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate declined by 0.03% to 3.40% in October from September. When compared with that of the previous year, the unemployment rate declined by 0.03% in October.
Further data showed that total employment increased over the month by 5,000 (0.04%) in October to 11,609,000; moreover, it also increased by 51,000(+0.44%) when compared with that of the previous year.
When compared with that of the previous year, employment in agriculture decreased by 5,000 (-0.96%); by contrast, the industry sector and the services sector increased by 11,000 (+0.27%) and 45,000 (+0.64%) in October, respectively.
The country’s labour force participation rate declined by 0.01% to 59.32% in October; however, it rose by 0.08% from that of the previous year.
