Nearly a fifth of workers surveyed, 19%, say they have recently become more afraid of being laid off, according to a survey of 500 workers by Předvýběru.CZ, a staffing firm based in Prague.
It was noted that 3% of employees had already been laid off. On the other hand, 30% say their employer is hiring, and 29% of respondents believe there are still many interesting offers in the job market. In addition, 6% are planning to change jobs.
“It is important to remember that in this country, people who want to work still have the upper hand, and despite the growing unemployment rate, companies are still looking for thousands of new employees,” František Boudný, director of Předvýběru.CZ, said in a press release with the comment translated from Czech.
Předvýběru.CZ’s survey also found that 22% of employees consider losing their jobs unpleasant and believe that support in the Czech Republic is insufficient. Thirteen percent of employees said they have already experienced dismissal and consider it one of the worst experiences of their lives.
42% of people fear being laid off because of financial loss, 34% because of uncertainty about finding a new job. In addition, 9% fear the negative impacts on family life or their children’s future, and 8% fear the impact on psychological well-being and overall health.
