South Korea’s temporary workforce rises 2.2% in November, jobless rate at 2.2%

The number of temporary employees in South Korea increased by 106,000 year-over-year in November to approximately 4.89 million, a 2.2% increase, according to the latest research by Statistics Korea.
Compared to the previous month, the number of temporary employees fell by 0.75%.
Further data from Statistics Korea showed the unemployment rate marked 2.2% in November, down 0.1% over the previous year.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate stood at 2.7%, unchanged over the month and down 0.1% over the prior year.
The number of unemployed persons totalled 656,000 people in November, which decreased by 21,000 persons or 3.1% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, the number of employed persons totalled 28.821 million persons in November, which went up 123,000 persons or 0.4% year-on-year.
South Korea’s economically active population marked 29.477 million persons in November, which grew 102,000 persons or 0.3% year-on-year.
The country’s labour force participation rate stood at 64.6% in November, the same year-on-year.
The employment-to-population ratio recorded 63.2% in November, up 0.1% year-on-year.
