South Korea temporary workforce up 4% in August, jobless rate at 1.9%

The number of temporary employees in South Korea rose by 191,000 year-over-year in August to approximately 4.95 million, a 4.01% increase, according to the latest research by Statistics Korea.
When compared to the previous month, the number of temporary employees rose by 0.45%.
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate marked 1.9% in August, down 0.1% year-on-year.
The number of unemployed persons totalled 564,000 people in August, which decreased 9,000 persons or 1.6% year-on-year.
At the same time, the number of employed persons totalled 28.801 million persons in August, which went up 123,000 persons or 0.4% year-on-year
South Korea’s economically active population marked 29.365 million persons in August, which grew 114,000 persons or 0.4% year-on-year.
The labour force participation rate stood at 64.4% in August, remaining the same year-on-year.
