The New York City Council on April 9 passed a bill that prohibits employers from pre-employment drug testing for marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols, known as “THC,” the active ingredient in marijuana, Epstein Becker & Green P.C. writes in a Lexology blog post. The bill prohibits employers, labor organizations, and employment agencies from requiring a prospective employee to submit to a marijuana or THC drug test as a condition of employment. Mayor de Blasio is expected to sign the bill, which would take effect in one year.
