Approximately 71% of respondents in a survey by En-baito, part of staffing firm En-Japan, said they ‘feel they have grown’ through their work in 2024.
The survey polled 1,300 site users and found that the top three skills they reported developing are business etiquette (28%), communication skills (27%) and sales and customer service skills (25%).
When asked about the jobs in which they acquired skills, the top answers were sales, service, and sales-related jobs (30%) and administrative and office work”(24%). When asked about the positive aspects of acquiring skills, the top answers were ‘my horizons have broadened’(47%) and ‘I have become more confident’ (45%).
Meanwhile, 91% of respondents said they would like to acquire or develop new skills in 2025.
The top skills people wanted to acquire or develop were data collection skills, such as Excel (27%), and document creation skills, such as Word and PowerPoint (23%).
Respondents were then asked what they would like to achieve by acquiring these skills. More than half want a raise in salary (53%).
