Net sales edged up 0.1% year over year at Lancers (4484:TYO), a Tokyo-based talent platform connecting freelancers with clients. Lancers reported revenue of JPY 1.11 billion (USD 6.9 million) in its fiscal first quarter ended 30 June.
Net income in the first quarter of 2025 was JPY 25.0 million (USD 155,354) compared to a net loss in the 2024 first quarter of JPY 55 million.
Launched in 2008, the company also offers a permanent placement service for freelancers who want to transition to a permanent role. As well as enterprise clients, Lancers includes a number of major staffing firms as clients including Persol Career, En Japan, Mynavi and Recruit Holdings.
Lancers forecast net sales for its full 2025 fiscal year will rise 10.1% to JPY 5.04 billion (USD 34.2 million).
Net income for the full fiscal year is forecast to fall 17.3% year over year to JPY 92.0 million (USD 624,731).

Shares in Lancers closed up 16.35% to JPY 242.00 (USD 1.64) on 14 August in Tokyo. Shares were 61.33% above their 52-week low.
