An NZD 3.8 million (USD 2.1 million) loss has been projected from insolvent Mt Eden-based labour recruitment agency ProLink NZ, which went into liquidation with about 190 jobs losses just before Christmas, reports The New Zealand Herald (paywall) and NZCity. Inland Revenue, ACC, telecoms, insurers and a vehicle lease company are listed as creditors of the business.
Numerous complaints about the firm have been lodged with Immigration New Zealand (INZ), which has been looking into its accredited employer status. Prolink NZ was under investigation by Immigration New Zealand as early as September 2023, after complaints from workers who say they have been cheated thousands of New Zealand dollars (NZD 1,000 is approximately USD 560), but have had little to non-full-time work.
