Jobindex says Danish labour market sees signs of slowing

Employment in Denmark has continued to rise despite subdued GDP growth and concerns of economists, job board operator Jobindex noted in an online posting. There are signs that slower growth is spreading to the labour market, but nothing indicated large declines in jobs.
“The Danish Job Index, which measures the number of new job postings on the internet, has in any case fallen since the spring,” the company said in a post. “In July, the number of new job adverts posted online rose slightly to 23,600 job postings, but if we look back to February, the number of new job adverts was somewhat higher than now. In February, 25,900 new job advertisements were posted online.”
Jobindex noted that even though job advertisements have fallen, they are not at a low level.
“The current number of job advertisements is in line with what we saw before the corona crisis hit the economy,” the company stated. “Back in 2019, the economy was in pretty good shape, and employment also increased. So, there is no question of a crisis atmosphere — but the pace has slowed down, and in that light, it will not be surprising if employment will fall in periods. However, there is not much that indicates large employment declines.”
