Authorities in Italy have confiscated €121 million (US$131.5 million) from Amazon’s Italian operations over allegations of tax fraud and labour exploitation, according to a report by Italian news agency Ansa. “The case regards the [alleged] use of so-called ‘labour reservoirs,’ a system under which large companies illegally subcontract out logistics services to other firms and cooperatives in order to get labour at rock-bottom rates and pay less tax,” Ansa reported. In a statement, Amazon said it complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
