Geechs Q1 sales up 2.0%, more freelancers under contract

Geechs (7060:TYO), a provider of IT freelancer staffing, reported sales rose 2.0% in its fiscal first quarter ended 30 June to JPY 5.83 billion (USD 36.2 million). Growth was in line with company expectations.

The Tokyo-based firm’s IT freelancer staffing business in Japan continued to see high demand, according to the company. Geechs’ first-quarter sales rose 6.7% year over year to JPY 3.69 billion (USD 23.0 million) and was a record for the firm. The number of freelancers under contract in Japan rose 5.0% in the first quarter to 4,626.

Geechs’ international IT freelancer staffing saw sales rise 11.3% to JPY 2.05 billion (USD 12.7 million). The company appointed a new CEO for this segment in April.

The company’s name, Geechs, is an amalgamation of the words “geek” and “tech.” Other companies under the Geechs umbrella are the Launch Group and Seed Tech.

Launch Group operates IT staffing and MSP businesses in Australia. It has also developed an in-house VMS. Seed Tech is developing education and offshore development businesses.

Results were released on 9 August.

Guidance

Geechs forecast sales revenue will be up 10.8% for the full fiscal year ending 31 March 2025.

Shares in Geechs closed up 1.04% on 9 August in Tokyo to JPY 387.00 (USD 2.64). They were 18.35% above their 52-week low.
