The number of temporary workers in France fell by 6.2% in November 2024 compared to the same period a year ago, according to the latest Prism’emploi barometer.
The 6.2% decline is unchanged from October’s 6.2% annual decline and is in line with the average for the first eleven months of the year (-6.6%).
Prism’emploi’s barometer noted that the use of temporary workers is trending downward in all user sectors.
Temporary employment dropped by 7.9% year-on-year in transport and logistics, driven by a decrease in household consumption.
At the same time, temporary employment fell by 6.5% in the industrial sector, fuelled by difficulties encountered in the automobile sector.
Temporary employment also fell in trade and construction (-5.7%), as well as in the services sector (-5.4%) and commerce (-5.7%).
By qualification and year-on-year, temporary employment decreased among unskilled workers (-3.2%), skilled workers (-6.9%), managers and intermediate professions (-9.0%) and employees (-9.7%).
Meanwhile, all metropolitans except for PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) saw a decline year-on-year. PACA saw a slight increase of 0.2% in November, supported by growth in the trade and services sectors. On the other hand, in Normandy (-10.6%) and Centre-Val de Loire (-12.1%), temporary employment saw the steepest declines.
