France’s temporary workforce down 6.7% in September

The number of temporary workers in France decreased by 6.7% in September 2024 compared to the same period a year ago, according to the latest Prism’emploi barometer.
The 6.7% fall follows August’s 6.7% annual decline and is precisely at the same level as the change recorded during the first three quarters of 2024.
Prism’emploi’s barometer noted that the use of temporary workers is trending downwards in all sectors in similar proportions.
Temporary employment fell year-on-year in trade (-4.8%), transport (-6.7%), industry (-6.8%), construction (-7.1%) and services (-7.1%).
By qualification and year-on-year, temporary employment is decreasing among unskilled workers (-5.2%), managers and intermediate professions (-6.1%), skilled workers (-7.2%) and employees (-9.7%).
Meanwhile, all metropolitans saw a decline year-on-year. In Normandy (-10.5%) and Centre-Val de Loire (-9.7%) temporary employment saw the steepest declines.
