Main article
The number of temporary workers in France decreased by 8.4% in July 2024 when compared to the same period a year ago, according to the latest Prism’emploi barometer.
The 8.4% annual decline was steeper than June’s 4.1% annual decline. The barometer said this must be interpreted with caution, as business activity has been disrupted by uncertainties related to the political situation in France and certain constraints resulting from the organisation of the Olympic Games.
Prism’emploi also noted that the 8.4% fall is 1.4% below the average decline in the first seven months of the year (-7.0%).
By sector, temporary employment is decreasing in construction (-2.3%), transport (-8.8%), industry (-9.4%), commerce (-9.5%) and services (-10.8%), year-on-year.
By qualification and year-on-year, temporary employment is decreasing among skilled workers (-6.8%), unskilled workers (-8.7%), managers and intermediate professions (-9.9%) and employees (-11.3%).
By geography, all regions recorded declines over the year, ranging between -0.9% in PACA (Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur) and -12.5% in Hauts-de-France.
