The owner and operator of several staffing companies in southern Florida pleaded guilty Nov. 1 to conspiracy to defraud the US and conspiracy to commit money laundering, the US attorney’s office reported. Oleksandr Yurchyk faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

Yurchyk’s companies included Paradise Choice, Paradise Choice Cleaning, Tropical City Services and Tropical City Group, according to the department.

The staffing firms facilitated hospitality industry employment of people who were not authorized to work in the US, the department said. The activities also helped evade federal income and employment taxes. The department reported that Yurchyk and co-defendants laundered more than $11 million in proceeds from their plans.

Yurchyk is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 27, 2025, in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

His attorney has been contacted for comment.
