Dutch temporary employment sector turnover up 2.4% in Q2

The Dutch temporary employment sector reported a turnover increase of 2.4% in Q2 2024 when compared to the second quarter of 2023, according to data from Statistics Netherlands.

Turnover in this sector has now increased for 13 consecutive quarters, but turnover growth has been steadily decreasing over the past nine quarters, it added.

Further data showed that turnover in business services was 6.2% higher in the second quarter of 2024 than in the same quarter a year earlier. Growth has been on a downward trend over the past four quarters, but is now slightly higher than in the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, business confidence among business service providers stood at -4.1 at the start of the third quarter of 2024. At the start of the second quarter, this was still -1.0. Business service providers were slightly more negative about the economic climate in the past three months and also about the economic climate in the coming three months.

Industry data found that for IT service providers, turnover was 8.0% higher than the same period a year ago. Turnover in the industry has now increased for sixteen quarters in a row. Only in the second quarter of 2020 did turnover in this sector decrease, before that the last turnover decrease was in the third quarter of 2013.
