The cost of attracting transportation and logistics workers is getting more expensive even as holiday sales are projected to be “muted” this year, according to recruitment marketing analytics firm Recruitics. The cost of finding IT workers also rose, though it fell for healthcare professionals.

Recruitics’ Talent Market Index tracks the fluctuating prices of attracting talent through paid advertising across diverse media channels.

Prices of attracting talent in the transportation and logistics sector rose 36.2% month over month, marking a two-month upward trend as companies gear up for the holiday season. On a year-over-year basis, the cost of attracting transportation and logistics workers rose 65.5%.

For IT and related workers, the cost of attracting workers edged up 0.65% month over month and rose 61.9% year over year. The growth underscores the strong demand for tech talent in areas such as digital transformation, cybersecurity and AI, according to the report.

On the other hand, Recruitics’ index found that the cost of attracting healthcare professionals fell 1.1% month over month even as it rose 3.2% year over year. Demand for healthcare workers has remained steady.

The election outcome giving Republicans control of the House and Senate could also affect labor market dynamics, Recruitics noted. Deregulatory efforts and tax cuts could potentially encourage growth in sectors like manufacturing and logistics, though tighter immigration policies could challenge industries reliant on immigrant labor.
