Commercial staffing hours rose to their highest level of the year in the week ended Sept. 21 as tracked by the SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator - October 1, 2024, report.
“The last quarter of the year is typically characterized by a broad-based, stronger momentum for staffing,” according to the report. “Whether staffing hours increase further over the next weeks will be a good indication as for the type of momentum we can expect in the remaining months of 2024.”
Commercial staffing hours were up 3.7% from the preceding week to an index value of 71 but down 7.1% year over year. Professional staffing hours were up 2.0% from the preceding week to an index value of 106 but down 12% year over year.
Overall US staffing hours also reached a year-to-date high and were up 3.4% week over week with an index value of 82 but down 7% year over year.
