The Caldwell Partners International (TSX:CWL) reported a rebound in professional fees during its fiscal first quarter ended Nov. 30, 2024.
Professional fees in its Caldwell executive search division rose 29.8% year over year to C$18.4 million (US$13.1 million), the Toronto-based firm reported.
“Our first quarter was characterized by a blend of growth and stability,” CEO Chris Beck said in a press release.
The company saw a “meaningful rebound” in professional fees driven by an increase in new search assignments, Beck said.
However professional fees in its IQTalent division fell 12.7% year over year to approximately C$2.8 million (US$2.0 million).
“While we have yet to see a broad-based pickup at IQTalent, continued stability reflects both the reliability of the on-demand talent acquisition support we provide to clients, as well as the success of our streamlined operations,” Beck said.
He continued, “While we remain mindful of broader economic factors that could impact hiring demand in the months ahead, the positive trend in new search assignments year over year is encouraging, and has continued through today, positioning us well for our second quarter.”
Total revenue at the company rose 21.8% to C$21.4 million (US$15.3 million).
Net earnings after tax fell, though The Caldwell Partners also noted restructuring income in the first quarter of the previous fiscal year.
