Staffing franchisor AtWork reported revenue rose more than 3% in 2024, and it opened 13 new offices in three new states: Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arkansas. In addition, AtWork sold 28 territories, bringing 18 new franchisees into the system.
The Knoxville, Tennessee-based firm operates primarily in the light industrial, manufacturing and office/clerical sectors. It has more than 100 locations across the US.
President and COO Jason Leverant said in an interview with SIA that the company is seeing interest in new franchises, and it’s working to keep its existing franchisees growing. He’s also optimistic about 2025.
“We’re hearing in the local markets there’s interest from our customers, and we are following the steps to activate them,” Leverant said.
The staffing market has seen its challenges as of late. In January, the US lost 12,400 temp jobs, and recent green shoots in the market may have only been a temporary phenomenon, according to data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The staffing industry revenue is forecast to grow 5% this year after contracting an estimated 10% in 2024.
Leverant noted the year started with the impacts of harsh weather events on the East Coast and wildfires in Southern California, areas where the company has offices.
There have been other changes at the start of the year. Leverant noted offices on the US border have seen clients come forward seeking staffing help because workers have not shown up over concerns about potential deportation. The clients are looking for sources of employees authorized to work in this country.
Still, Leverant says he’s advising people to keep their nose to the grindstone, regardless of what may be making the news.
“I’m telling the teams and everybody, ignore the noise; focus on sales activity, focus on customers and we are going to win.”
