Amazon announced it will raise wages in the UK for frontline operations employees, such as those in warehouses, by 9.8% or higher.
The minimum pay for frontline operations employees will rise to between £13.50 and £14.50 per hour for those with 36 months of service.
Amazon said the increase will take effect 29 September.
“Our frontline employees across the UK operations network are a huge part of the success of our business, and we appreciate everything they do to deliver for our customers,” Amazon UK Country Manager John Boumphrey said in a press release. “That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’re increasing our minimum starting pay for all frontline employees to the equivalent of more than £28,000 a year, and we continue to offer industry-leading benefits from day one as well as outstanding opportunities for our employees to start and grow a great career.”
The company also noted that employees are offered a benefits package when they start that includes medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, subsidized meals and an employee discount.
Amazon also reported it has invested £550 million in increased pay for operations employees across the UK since 2022, representing a 35% increase in hourly rates over two years.
