James Edmund Datri has been appointed the next president and CEO of the Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants.
Headquartered in New York, AESC — the global association for more than 1,200 executive search and leadership consulting firms — said Datri will begin his tenure on Jan. 1, 2025.
Datri succeeds Karen Greenbaum, who announced earlier this year that she would step down after a decade of service leading the association.
“AESC is profoundly grateful for Karen Greenbaum and the impact she has had on the association and our profession, raising the bar in quality standards and innovation, especially in the area of DE&I globally,” Julian Ha, AESC’s board chair, said in a statement on Wednesday.
“Jim Datri is an innovative and collaborative executive who brings a fresh perspective to AESC. He is the right leader to build on our successes.”
Datri’s experience spans executive roles in trade associations, law and government. He is currently the CEO of the American Society of Media Photographers, where he built the organization’s first corporate membership program and launched a global photo competition with Time magazine.
Previously, Datri was president and CEO of the American Advertising Federation and has been a partner in law firms Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, and McDermott Will & Emery. Prior to that, he served as the executive director of the Democratic Caucus in the US House of Representatives.
“I am honored and excited to begin the work of leading AESC to a new chapter of innovation, growth and impact,” Datri said in a statement.
In February, AESC announced its 2024 board and council leadership at its annual meeting in London.
