Founded in 2012 as the brainchild of industry veterans, Atlanta-based Optomi stands behind its commitments. “If we make a promise, we try to keep the promise, no matter what,” says CEO Chuck Ruggiero.

Case in point: The company once hired a team of developers to support a client initiative. At the last moment, the client canceled the project. “Meanwhile, the developers had already left other jobs,” says co-founder and President Radka Winwood. Optomi quickly pivoted to find new positions for the developers whose gigs suddenly disappeared — and paid them for their missed hours. “We do the right thing,” Winwood says.

Optomi is just as committed to ensuring its internal staff members have the skills needed to be successful. To that end, it developed an immersive coaching program called The Acadomi. Tech recruiters and account executives — primarily fresh college grads or people who are transitioning careers — come to Optomi’s Atlanta headquarters to be coached on every facet of the company’s business by professionals who have a proven record in the industry.

Upon completion of the two-month program, the employees may deploy to any of its offices around the country, but the coaching continues with internal training from both Acadomi and non-Acadomi coaches in its markets. In addition to its Atlanta headquarters, Optomi has hubs in Dallas and Charlotte, with additional offices in Washington DC and Detroit.

“The training enables participants to ramp up faster than traditional orientation models,” notes Acadomi Director Christopher Smith. First launched in 2020, The Acadomi kicks off its 15th class in January 2025.

Program graduates work with the company’s hundreds of clients across a spectrum of industries, sourcing IT consultants in seven core competencies: business optimization, software engineering, data modernization, cybersecurity, cloud and infrastructure, SaaS, and emerging technologies. The company’s placements typically have four-year technology degrees and high-end skills.

“The Acadomi has facilitated growth across all of our markets,” Smith says.

Indeed, Optomi has seen incredible growth over the years, as is evident in its ranking on SIA’s Fastest-Growing US Staffing Firms list each year since 2021; from 2019 to 2023, its compound annual growth rate was 27.9%. The company ranks on SIA’s Largest US Staffing Firms list as well.

Winwood attributes Optomi’s success to hard work and smart choices. Among those choices is a concerted effort to anticipate and respond to client needs. In 2017, the firm added a managed services arm, Provalus, to provide outsourcing support and managed services from rural, veteran-heavy US communities. Service offerings have since expanded to include a suite of professional services capabilities.

“We had zero clients initially. Year by year, we’ve made mistakes, learned a ton and been passionate and massively driven,” Winwood recalls. “We are super fortunate to be in a growing industry. There is a need for tech talent, and there isn’t enough to support all the business needs out there,” she adds.

Ruggiero foresees more growth ahead. “Responding to client needs will continue to drive the company’s expansion,” he says. “Growth is about fulfilling the service circle. We started by providing just people. Then we added managed services, and then we added professional services. That’s what can fill nearly every client’s needs, which then drives long-term relationships and success. We want to be the long-term partners as clients grow.”
