Pacer Staffing credits its diverse workforce as one of the main reasons for its strong growth in recent years. While the company ranks No. 5 on this year’s Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list, it was also included in this year’s Diversity-Owned Staffing Firms list.

“I’m proud to say at this point at Pacer, 50% of our internal workforce are women,” CEO and owner Vinny Dhillon says. And at the senior executive levels, 50% of the company’s workforce are women.

Pacer Staffing also strives to keep track of external workforce diversity parameters, aiming to keep it between 40% to 50% diverse. Additionally, the company collaborates with clients to help them build their own diversity initiatives.

Pacer prioritizes its culture and environment. In fact, the organization’s “five elements” are found within its name: As Dhillon puts it, P is for passion, A is for accountability, C is for care, E is for empathy and R is for respect.

“These are the five elements that we try to keep in our ethics so that we can deliver the maximum potential to our client - as well as instilling that positive work culture in the company so that everybody feels like it’s a home and not a ‘9-to-5’ job,” she says.

This environment has contributed to lower turnover and a tenured employee pool. Dhillon also credits the company’s train-and-deploy model, which provides in-house training for recruiters.

In addition to its workforce, COO Amrinder Romana notes that Pacer Staffing’s veteran leadership has also been a key to its growth. Pacer’s hiring of experienced leaders with 20-plus years in the staffing industry has helped the company understand what clients expect and what buyers need.

The company was part of MWIDM Inc. until 2021, when Pacer was spun out as a separate staffing firm. Pacer’s growth for the Fastest-Growing Staffing Firms list is based only on Pacer revenue and not MWIDM revenue.

Dhillon says the split changed the decision-making process, which allowed Pacer to place its focus on key sectors, including the establishment of a healthcare services division at the IT staffing provider.
