Midway Staffing aims to operate as a partner - not a vendor - to its clients, and this approach has yielded significant growth since its inception in 2015. As a provider of light industrial workforce specialists, the company provides employees for the food, hospitality, manufacturing and warehousing sectors.

It was launched by brothers RJ Parrilli and James Parrilli in 2015. The CEO and chief sales officer, respectively, are most proud of topping $100 million in revenue last year.

“What’s really allowed us to get with the growth pattern we are on, first and foremost, has been the partnerships we choose,” James Parrilli says. “We are not going with companies that are seasonal or looking for people for a month or two months. We look for long-term partnerships that are busy year-round, that view us not only as partners in staffing but within our internal staff as well.”

Both before and during Covid, the demand was there, but in the words of RJ Parrilli: “It all comes into the execution.”

RJ Parrilli explained that when he and his brother started the company with a silent partner, employment was tight - and continued to get tighter. “During that time, we came in as a third or fourth agency to most of our clients, just backfilling five orders or 10 orders, and now we are often the primary provider, or sole provider.”

Currently, the company sends out about 4,000 employees a week (W-2 employees) to client sites in temp and temp-tohire positions.

Both brothers are salespersons at heart and believe it comes down to the culture of “one big family” they have created with their employees, where they have a vested interest in the company’s startup growth.

“The big thing is employee buy-in; we have always made transparent what is going on in the company,” says James Parrilli. “Our first employee is our vice president, now and we have promoted several other employees.”

Making employees part of the success and celebrating it are important. One year, they decided if they hit a certain target, they would all go to New Orleans, and they did that - as a company. “We want everyone to be pushing toward a goal,” says RJ Parrilli. “A place where they have opportunities to be promoted and make more money for themselves and their family without having to go find another company that is going to give them that opportunity. That is what we hold ourselves to as a management team.”

With six offices in Illinois, the company’s headquarters was relocated to Hillside, Illinois, from Berwyn, Illinois, in August. They also have locations in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Mesquite, Texas.
