Roslyn Byrd
Honoree profile
Roslyn Byrd’s drive to cultivate inclusivity stems from her multicultural heritage. With a Black father and a Filipino mother, a daughter who identifies with the LGBTQ+ community, and a nephew on the autism spectrum, DE&I is embedded in her DNA.
Byrd has been driving the development and implementation of DE&I programs and initiatives at The Adecco Group’s LHH as the national portfolio sales director and DE&I executive sponsor as well as the Women’s Colleague Resource Group (WCRG) lead. She aims to foster a sense of belonging for her colleagues, clients and internal customers and to boost engagement through various platforms.
One of these platforms is LHH’s DE&I newsletter, which Byrd also helped create. The newsletter serves as a communication platform and a way to recognize events and provide resources that will help colleagues get involved in their community. For example, during neurodiversity month, the newsletter provided education around the subject as well as resources.
I think when we create that sense of inclusion, diversity and equity come in into play.
Another avenue of Byrd’s DE&I efforts is the WCRG, which she helped launch. “It was a way for us to uplift our women colleagues as well as our allies and provide safe spaces for them to share their challenges and wins,” she says. The group provides opportunities to speak with leaders within the organization for mentorship. Byrd is proud of its growth and of being an integral part of building an internal community.
Her focus on inclusion at the workplace is particularly timely as Gen Z workers make up more and more of the workforce. “I think when we create that sense of inclusion, diversity and equity come in into play,” she says. This workplace inclusivity and sense of belonging not only adds value to the workplace but also helps businesses with retention and hiring, she notes.
Within her community, Byrd helps provide résumé reviews, workshops and workforce prep to underrepresented talent. She also works with Aspire, an organization that helps high school students prepare for jobs.
Looking ahead, Byrd plans to strengthen her focus on the neurodiverse population and help them find — and succeed in — employment. Her work emphasizes the importance of listening to differing perspectives, eliminating biases and ensuring access to DE&I educational resources.
