Shelisa Payne is focused on creating a total workforce that creates a strategic advantage for Adobe. This means leading strategic efforts to scale the program — from assessing the changing landscape to driving key initiatives to designing new solutions regionally and implementing them globally.
“My primary role is to evolve our contingent workforce from the current state that we find ourselves in to the next level and determine how we embrace this total integrated workforce,” she explains. “And I think that happens at levels — both in mindset, but also in the actual approach with the processes and systems so that they’re also integrated to help the business make a better impact.”
To this end, her team developed and launched Contingent Workforce 101, an instructive training for hiring managers in Adobe’s contingent workforce program. Completed in a short time on a low budget and published through Adobe’s own learning management system, the main goal is to help managers working in all parts of the organization understand high-level contingent workforce concepts.
Contingent Workforce 101 was one piece brought before Adobe’s Contingent Workforce Advisory Board; the initiative first launched when Payne started her current role about two years ago. Involving senior leaders has created a collaborative effect and bolstered visibility for her program and how contingent can be a key part of the total workforce.
“What’s nice about this little ad hoc board is that it’s given us a space to discuss key trends that are happening and given us an environment to maybe fail fast and test out some of our ideas — and to create innovative solutions in an agile way,” she says.
