Jake Friedman
honoree profile
Jake Friedman came to Nasdaq six years ago with extensive experience in expense and vendor management. He currently oversees a few functions under the global procurement team, which includes leading the contingent workforce program. The program supports non-FTEs globally, including the workforce sourced via staff augmentation and project-based consultants which range from IT roles to strategy, such as M&A.
He is proud of Nasdaq’s expansion to the human cloud through its exclusive partnership with Upwork, leading to increased visibility spend. “The partnership with Upwork has been instrumental in supporting our revenue-based business units source talent through the human cloud,” he says. “The integration into Helix UX is allowing for a more streamline requisition process supported by less rigid system requirements and administration.”
Negotiating cost savings is a part of the job Friedman relishes. Whether taking charge of offshoring initiatives or executing SOWs to benchmark commercial and business terms in high-volume contracts, Friedman’s pleasure — and skill — in achieving cost containment is palpable. “I love the commercial negotiations, the art of the deal,” he says.
